Feed Them Cupcakes!

Dearest Reader,

As fall approaches and the temperature continues to go down the need for a good cup of coffee increases. This autumn season instead of going to a favorite coffee shop around town perhaps you, dearest reader, should think outside of the box and try something new. This is exactly what Wire Hangers decided to do- thus, we spent our afternoon at our new favorite cupcakery in town: Whipped.  Whipped Cupcakes is located on Frazier Avenue beside Leo Handmade Goods- and how else should you reward yourself after a long hard day of shopping on Frazier then eating a cupcake with a wonderful cup of Joe? PLUS- they sell Tab…they can do no wrong in our book now! So, go down and buy a cupcake…we promise you won’t be disappointed.

First Thrift of the Fall

Dearest Reader,

Whilst we are sitting here it is official, it’s the first real day of fall. This weather makes us want some apple cider….but alas, coffee and diet coke will have to suffice…and how else to celebrate this crisp climate then thrifting for fabulous fall accessories? An afternoon of thrifting followed by a delicious snack from Greenlife and on to a nighttime gathering at Aretha Frankenstein’s (which led to a photo shoot by the row of trash cans.....why not?) with Wire Hangers fabulous friends. Nothing is better.

"Frivolity must have its foundations" -Anna Wintour

Dearest Reader,

Well, it’s nearing the end of September-, which means that everyone has had time to buy THE September issue of Vogue and peruse through the 584 pages of fabulous fall fashion.  The September issue of Vogue is one (if not THE) most important issue of the year- for it is the debut for all the autumn styles and fads.  The September issue is notorious for hundreds of pages filled with the best of the best in the fashion world- and this year is no exception. Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief at Vogue, and her creative clan of fashion geniuses have outdone themselves once again by bringing readers all the style trends for the coming months.

A couple of our favorite features from this years September issue are “into the woods” shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and “In the Mood” shot by Steven Meisel.

Over the past years Vogue has been known for having features based on different fairy-tale stories with a fashionable twist. Whether it is Drew Barrymore as Beauty from “Beauty and the Beast” or Keira Knightly as Dorothy from “The Wizard of Oz” Vogue has always had an eye for fantastic fashion for the fantasy world. This year, model Natalia Vodianova portrays the role of Little Red Riding Hood for a fall inspired pictorial narrative. Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Vera Wang and Alberta Ferretti are just a few of the designers whose clothing is featured.  Besides beautiful photos and wonderful fashion the main point behind this article is that the color for the fall is red, red, red. So, dearest reader, you best travel outside of your comfort zone and bust out the red for it is sure to be everywhere. If you have not seen these pictures make sure you check them out!

Another aspect of this September’s issue to check out is “In the Mood.”  These pictures, shot by the wonderful Steven Meisel, show models dressed in attire that is wonderfully reminiscent of the 1940s.  Gloves, hats and pumps combined make these stunning outfits come alive with vintage-like appeal.  This is also a “must-do” trend for this season.

Other trends to watch: voluminous trousers (also known as MC Hammer pants,) suede, above the knee boots, dark lips and much more.

Dearest Reader,

I don’t know if you heard the news, but fall is just around the corner. Could there be a better time for fantastic fashion then autumn? This, of course, means back to school which, in turn, means fashion shoot in the library…and what could be more appropriate than not wearing pants in the la bibliothèque? Photos taken by our dear friend Alanna Weaver.

Dearest Reader,

First off, Wire Hangers would like to welcome you to our blog. Oh, “blog,” what a terrible word with awful connotations…but we humbly admit that we understand the stigma that goes along with blogging and, you know what, we are okay with it…proud even. Wire Hangers first started contemplating blogging a few months previous to now, but alas, a lackadaisical attitude took a hold and fashion blogging became just an idea instead of a reality. Now, many moons later, our blogging experiment has come to fruition. So, here it is. We hope you are entertained.

A&C.

At our dear friend, Erika's, swanky birthday.
